Yesterday’s Reflection…

A senior White lady stopped me yesterday as I was getting out my car to tell me she was sorry for everything and that she prays for Black people every night. I thanked her and as she began to walk away as suddenly as she appeared and I got out the car…

I closed the door and noticed my reflection in the glass… I was still me. Same country boy turned scholar, turned online entrepreneur, same Christian, father, husband, son, brother, cousin, nephew… Or do I mean same thug, hooligan, drug dealing dread head… right? So what’s changed? I’m I finally a citizen with common values like everyone else after hundreds of years of elitism, discrimination, police brutality, disenfranchisement, redlining… systemic racism? Does it all go away now that social media is reporting the real news? Did cops have to go viral for a decade before eyes finally opened?

So now what? We have finally gained the compassion of the world from here to Australia… But do we have the RESPECT of the world? Not to make this negative but, though I have her sympathy would she let me sell her a house or operate on her heart if her life depended on it? Would she mind my family moving next to her? Would she check her friends and family that make racist remarks when no one is looking?

Some might see all the change as a victory but don’t let up the pressure! We have to remember that the United States is a great place to live, true… but it’s a CAPITALISM ECONOMY FIRST! That means we operate off the golden rule: He/She who has all the gold makes all the rules! So before we can truly effect change, we have to increase our networth (which is still decades behind) to be taken seriously in this country.

We need more homeowners, business owners and financially literacy. We need to stop killing each other and stop falling asleep drunk in Wendys drive thrus 😓.

It’s time for us to do our part and pray for each other not just count on others to pray for us, lift each other up and push each other to Go In For It!

It’s not just about trying to get rich, it’s gaining the respect we need to be able to be treated as human beings in this society according to our character not our color… because of our talent, not our hair… based on our future, not our past!
