Excited to bring a new level of service to my culture as the new Director of IT at one of the countries fastest growing companies, Novae! When I got the offer, my first reaction would have had my mother glare correction at me like I was acting up while she was on the choir lol! But I took a deep breath and calmly accepted. Knowing this would end my 9 year career at Verizon, up for a raise and all… But I knew I could have a much deeper impact in helping this start up company in my full capacity.
The next thing I had to do was put in my 2 week notice and continue working, taking escalated tech support calls, knowing I would be free from the complaint factory soon I had to muscle through each agonizing day until my last call.
The last call was actually very fulfilling. I helped a couple activate their new phone and solve a long term issue that was plaguing them for months. It was a long call but at they end they said they would like to commend me in front my sup and tell them I needed a raise… something Ive been told at least 100 times while there lol. I humbly thanked them and felt compelled to let them know this was actually going to be my last call after a 9 year career at Verizon. They were sad but congratulatory at the same time… it’s not like I would have talked to them again in the future, even if I stayed but it still felt like I was leaving a bunch of people empty… I had to think of it as how many MORE people I would be serving in my new role. I pinched my nose to mock a CB radio broadcaster as a trucker making his last haul would…
“Kshhh, this is Jerry Goins signing out, it’s been a great ride…” I said, and that was it! I gig I waited 3 years to get, applied 2 times before landing was complete, job well done.
Mr. McCamby told me that the next step would be to come down to Conyers, GA and soak up my new role working with our VP of Technology to catch up on all the processes. Mr. M and Mr. Ali surprised me at the airport with my name displayed on his phone like in the movies haha!
We all broke out into laughter when Mr. M says, “Listen, how many Directors of Technology show up wearing Gucci scarfs??” I had to represent one time.
@jerrygoinsgo This has been one incredible week! I'm just trying to soak it all in… #growtime #novaemoney #entrepreneur ♬ original sound – JerryGoins
The rest of the week was full of work, 10-12 hours at the office, before and after the staff arrived and left. But I expected to be pressed. Boardroom meetings, 5 hour long zoom meetings, partner meetings… I was just soaking it all in. My wife was proud because she has seen all the work I put in before this, to now have an official role and title she was there from the start so she knows 100% of my story… but she was most proud of the fact that I made my plane there and especially back without her help haha. We usually travel together and I just follow her zipping through the airport because she loves living in the moment while I really just wanna get on the plane so I can take a nap 🤦🏿♂️.
Now Im back home, working remotely and getting items checked off my list as she gets ready to depart for a week herself. My turn to hold the household down and get my work down, at the same time lead my affiliates and Goins Financial business. God is amazing and always delivers. One thing I know is he cannot use your unbelief, you gotta have faith and prove it through your work that something greater is waiting on the other side. Much love and success to you all until next time!
