It’s official! #GoinsOfficial that is… Allecia and I tied the knot in a ceremony in historic downtown Wilmington (hence the 100 year-old building behind the crew) on April 29th, 2017, accompanied by friends, family and mentors who have become family. Married by my aunt and uncle, both pastors, who have been doing weddings for over a decade!
It was an elegant occasion, my wife’s vision was picture perfect! She is an awesome event stylist, I was blown away when I saw everything for the first time and crazy-excited the entire day.
We both were surprised by some of the Novae fam that came down from as far as NY to our humble ceremony along the Cape Fear river. Even my lil bro came as my best man along side my long time friend Cory (DJ Fo). Shoutout all the groomsmen: Dmitri, Kevin, Scar and Fury too… check out our new album coming out soon lol:
My favorite part? The entire thing! From our first dance together with Kev hollering in the background, “Go head Roddy, that’s all you now!” To the sparkler exit into the white BMW Z4 waiting for us, thanks Fury for the hook up that was literally clutch haha.
We didn’t do an exotic honeymoon, though we did escape to a semi-resort community in Carolina Beach with ocean view and private marsh walk by some million-dollar homes. It was a great getaway and I miss the condo already lol.
So, Jerry you’re married? Now what? Well, now it’s back to business and building a legacy together!
You know, yesterday our 9 year-old recorded a 30 sec video on Alle’s phone about life lol. The funny thing is he sounded just like we do when we walk around making videos haha. At the end of it, “this was a short video about life, remember it’s very important to think about…”. They’re definitely watching our every move and we gotta make them count now more than ever.
We are focused on our relationship and take it more seriously now that we know the devil is going to be trying us daily to break apart what God has helped us build. We know that our story and message will draw thousands more to God and it’s up to us to keep it together. Nobody has done for me what she has and vice-versa. It is more important now than ever to remember our past is only the floor for our future and there’s no looking back… who wants to do that anyway?? Life is about the windshield not the rear-view mirror.
I hope our story inspires you to focus on building who you are, knowing that the perfect person is out there doing the same waiting to meet you. Many of us are looking for “love” in the wrong places because it is really inside of us our entire lives. Love yourself and you who you are. Love your mind, body and soul before you can expect someone else to. Develop the skills and discipline that your future mate will be counting on you for. Prepare yourself for them and the perfect person will gravitate towards you. Another thing is, once you think you found that person, let them breathe… think about being in a pool and trying to reach out and grab a beach ball floating by… just because you can touch it, doesn’t mean you can keep it. Wait until it’s well within your reach or you might just push it away! I’ll let you re-read and catch that later…
